CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Over the weekend, Castro Valley Patch asked on our Facebook page, "If you could bring back one local business that closed in town (it doesn't matter how long ago), which would it be?" Three people — Linda Phippen Hulme, Pam Maria Hoy-Brown and Ginger Russell — miss the Hallmark store. Food was on the minds of some people. Julie Earl said, "Katy Lou's best sandwich deli ever I still crave them." Barbara Betti agreed. Julia Ramirez went for "JD's and Pyzano's. But we have Slice House in SL now so I'll take JD's." Olivia Lopez also went for JD's Janet Roselius chose Zeke's Deli. Ellen Broderick Chiarello misses, "The fabric store in the village...was it Sherwood Fabrics?" Other mentions include Carry Outee, Dried and Tied Fine Gifts & Home Accessories, and Cookie Express.
