ROSWELL, GA — A former Roswell police officer pleaded guilty to punching and tasing a man in 2018, reported Appen Media. Daniel MacKenzie was taken into custody Feb. 28. He will serve 12 months for battery and simple battery, followed by five years on probation for aggravated assault, making a false statement and two counts of violation of oath by a public officer, according to Appen Media. The agreement was made with the Fulton County District Attorney's Office, reported Appen Media. MacKenzie wrote in his October 27, 2018 report, obtained by WXIA-TV, that a man was trying to open car doors in an apartment parking lot, but ran when police showed up. The news station obtained the full report, which detailed the tasing and punching of the handcuffed man in the backseat of the patrol car.
