UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A fire ignited Tuesday morning in a residential building on the Upper West Side that left two people injured.
Flames sparked in the top floor of a 16-story building at 595 West End Avenue (89th Street) around 6:51 a.m., FDNY said.
A video posted to the Citizen App showed smoke billowing out of an apartment, which you can watch here.
The two residents had minor injuries and were treated on the scene, FDNY said.
Chief Michael McCrory of the FDNY's 11th Battalion told the WestSideRag that the building did not have to get evacuated and the fire was contained to the 16th-floor apartment.
FDNY is investigating the cause of the fire.
