TEMPE, AZ —An Arizona State student was arrested Monday after materials used to make explosives were found in his dorm room, the Arizona State Police Department said. Logan Reynolds —a 19-year-old from Santa Barbara, California, according to ABC 15 —was charged with two counts of misconduct involving weapons (explosives), police said. ASU police said they received information from a concerned student Monday that Reynolds might be building explosives in his Palo Verde East residence hall. According to ABC 15, the police were made aware of a social media post featuring the suspect holding two explosive devices. ASUPD said officers quickly responded to the scene and evacuated the fifth floor of the residence hall as a precaution. At the scene, officers did find materials used in the development of explosives, police said. Police K-9s and the Tempe Police Department Bomb Squad were brought into the dorm, where they safely removed any potentially explosive materials. The materials were then impounded by the Tempe Police Department, according to authorities. "I commend the student who filed the initial report," ASU Police Chief Michael Thompson said in a statement. "We always say, 'if you see something, say something.' This student saw a situation they were uncomfortable with, and followed their instincts." The ASUPD said the case remains under investigation.
