ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta police are investigating after a woman who met a man online was shot early Tuesday morning.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, police discovered the injured woman at a gas station along the 2200 block of Cascade Road around 6 a.m. However, police said the shooting apparently happened somewhere else.
Police said the woman told officers that she met a man online and agreed to meet with him in person at a different location. The intent of that meeting was not immediately known.
At the meeting, police said the two began arguing, which resulted in the woman being shot. Police did not identify the actual location where the two met.
"Aggravated Assault Unit detectives are beginning their investigation and are working to determine the exact location where the incident occurred," police said in a news release.
Police said the woman was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
It was not clear if police are still actively looking for the woman's shooter.
"Please keep in mind that this is preliminary information and may change as the investigation progresses," police said.
