The Maintenance Technician 2nd shift position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of Vital Proteins business goals and objectives. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role will be working out of our Franklin Park, IL production location. What you will be responsible for: *Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions *Locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments *Removing defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts *Determining changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments *Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges *Controlling downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance *Conserving maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results *Providing mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests *Maintaining technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks *Maintaining continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs *Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations *Conducting Lock-Out / Tag-Out in accordance with company policies *Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed *Enforcing food safety throughout the facility *Emergency response with Management Team when the Maintenance Manager is absent Who you are: *An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred *High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience *4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills with some PLC experience. *Bilingual in Spanish is preferred *Must be able to read, write and understand English
