CHICAGO, IL — This coming December weekend, PAWS Chicago is its 12th annual Holiday Adopt-A-Thon in an effort to find homes for homeless dogs, cats, pups and kittens. From Friday, Dec. 6, to Sunday, Dec. 8, the shelter is extending its hours in a pawsome opportunity to adopt. Some of the loving, fuzzy friends up for adoption are pictured below. "The holiday season is a critical time of year for homeless pets in overcrowded open admission shelters," the shelter said in a release to Patch. "Many are short-staffed during the holidays, which means more animals are at risk of being euthanized than any other time of year. By promoting adoption and spay/neuter, PAWS Chicago is working to build a No Kill community where all healthy and treatable pets are given life." The shelter's extended weekend hours are: Friday: noon to 9 p.m.Caturday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.Sunday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.See photos below of some of the adorable animals up for adoption this weekend, alongside their descriptions (all photos and descriptions were provided by PAWS Chicago): Buddy This is Buddy the puppy, what's your favorite color?
