HENNEPIN COUNTY, MN — A court appearance is scheduled later this month for a Michigan driver who is accused of fleeing after striking a teen as she prepared to board a school bus in January in Edina. Authorities said Carlton Troutman, 26, was extradited from Michigan and made his first appearance in court March 27. At the hearing, bail was set at $300,000, and his next appearance was scheduled for April 22. Troutman, of Flint, Michigan, is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon after the car he was driving struck a 17-year-old girl as she attempted to board a school bus in Edina on Jan. 23, authorities said. The girl was taken to a hospital and was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, authorities said. A nationwide warrant was issued for Troutman on March 11, according to a news release. He was arrested in Michigan on March 13 and brought back to Minnesota on March 26, authorities said. Read more: Michigan Man Drove Into Girl Getting On School Bus In Edina: Cops
