Swimmer Missing After Trying To Save Woman In Lake Minnetonka

EXCELSIOR, MN — Authorities are searching for a swimmer who went missing in Lake Minnetonka Thursday evening. Around 6:30 p.m., deputies from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Water Patrol were dispatched to a report of someone missing in Lake Minnetonka's Lower Lake. Nine people were on pontoon boat. One woman entered the water and began to struggle, according to a news release. Three passengers — a man and two women — jumped into the water to rescue her. All three women made it back aboard the boat safely, but the man is still missing. Water patrol deputies are searching the area with sonar.
