Description
It is with a heavy heart that we are looking to re-home our 3.5 year old Rhodesian ridgeback mix Jackson (50lbs). We recently moved from Washington state into the city, and Jackson has not been adapting well. Despite exercise, he is still very anxious and paces around the apartment. He has leash/barrier reactivity and does not deal well when walking in a city and sees another dog. He will bark and whine. He does not seem happy here, and we are looking to find someone who can provide a more balanced life. We are specifically looking for someone who has a backyard and at least 1 acre of land. He has ALL his required shots and documentation. He received 6 weeks of board-training at a Cesar Malan approved trainer. He is extremely well trained inside the house, has NEVER had an issue with potty training, chewing, aggression etc. He is excellent with kids and adults alike. He is very friendly and playful (or ignores) other dogs. He is not aggressive to other dogs as long as he is not on a leash(and even if you were to take him off the leash he would go and smell the other dog). He is okay at a dog park but will sometimes play rough and will require correction. His biggest issues are 1) he likes to be outside 2) he is hard to walk on a leash with other dogs in high density. He is crate trained and will go to his crate to sleep if you'd like. He listens very well, has good recall, and is smart. He is a pleasure to have around, and we are sad to let him go. We are trying to do whats best for him. If you are interested, the training he received comes with a lifetime "FaceTime/call/text" with his trainer as well as priority for boarding/lodging. We can give you those details. We have had him stay with other dogs before and he never has an issue, as well as have other dogs stay with us and again he enjoys their company. He is very playful. We have stayed with friends who have children age 1-5 and no matter what the kids did to him (pull tail, hard pet etc) he NEVER showed any aggression and is very patient. We are asking $200 more to ensure he is going to someone who will care for him, than for the sake of money. He will come with a large crate, 2 beds, 2 LL bean jackets, 1 sweater, 1 water life jacket, winter booties, multiple leashes, multiple toys, about $100 worth of dog treats/bones/bully sticks etc, food container and food, and about 6 months of his flea/tick/worm medicine. Everything you could need to take care of him. We are based out of Providence but are willing to drive 4+ hours for the right fit.
