Pain d’Avignon is a small business with a serious passion for the craft of bread and pastry making, and for the enjoyment of eating them. We produce fresh breads and pastries daily from our commissary in Long Island City. We are seeking passionate and dedicated experienced bakers to join the team and produce doughs that follow our core integrity: simple, natural, fresh. We offer health benefits, transit benefits, 401k, 401k matching, vacation time, and room for growth. Job Type: Full-time, W2 Hours: Shift start times between 12pm-5pm. Role and Responsibilities • Reviews production schedule to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake. • Properly score bread using a sharp blade. • Operate and control equipment. (Manual, automatic loader, Ovens, Proof boxes and retardant boxes). • Check equipment daily to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations and perform proper maintenance and daily cleaning. • Set oven temperatures and place items into hot ovens for proper baking. • Observe color of products being baked and adjust oven temperatures, humidity, or conveyor speeds accordingly. • Determine when bread is properly proof and fermented. • Read and understand work related materials. • Inspect and evaluate the quality of products.
