Aimee Maddera Hired As Oklahoma City's Chief Human Resources Officer

From the City of Oklahoma City: March 16 2020 City Manager Craig Freeman announced the selection of Aimee Maddera, a longtime human resources executive with Oklahoma roots, as the City's Chief Human Resources Officer. Maddera, 44, will lead the Personnel Department, which is changing its name to the Human Resources Department. She will report to Assistant City Manager Kenton Tsoodle, and her official starting date is March 27. "We hired Mackenzie Eason to conduct a national search for this position, which is one of the most important in our organization," said Freeman. "We had a deep pool of talented and experienced applicants, and we're excited about Aimee's potential to lead our Human Resources team. She brings a fresh perspective and extensive experience, and she'll be an asset to our residents from the first day." Maddera succeeds Dianna Berry, who retired last year, and Acting Personnel Director Christian York. The Chief Human Resources Officer oversees hiring, benefits, labor negotiations, retirement systems and more issues involving the 4,869 positions on the City of Oklahoma City staff. The Human Resources Department has 29 employees in six divisions: Administration, Labor & Employee Relations, Operations, Occupational Health, Employee Benefits and Retirement Systems. Maddera is a longtime resident of the Oklahoma City area. She's relocating here from Arkansas after moving there for a promotion. She was most recently a divisional human resources senior director at an international retail and e-commerce giant. Maddera has 15 years of human resources experience. "I am excited to be able to come back home to Oklahoma City to be part of this amazing organization," said Maddera. "I am especially honored to be part of the transformation which will serve our residents and employees." Maddera is a graduate of Del City High School. She was already a full-time working parent when she went back to school, graduating with honors from American Public University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in management and an emphasis on human resources. She is Accelerating Implementation Methodology (AIM) Change Management certified. Maddera and her husband of 25 years, Brian, have two children, Austin and Jessica.
