Position Summary: Commercial Driver – Class A is responsible for safely operating heavy vehicles, primarily to provide direct support to guardrail installation crews. While the position formally reports to the Operations Manager, it will often require taking direction from Crew Supervisors. Daily activities include preparing and transporting materials and equipment on flatbed trucks and trailers to and from construction sites and safely in and out of lane closures. In addition to moving or relocating truck, trailer or equipment throughout the day, the position requires active labor handling materials and working with the guardrail installation crew on the construction site throughout the day as directed by a Crew Supervisor. Essential Job Functions: • Verify load list, load / unload materials and equipment, properly secure loads, and attach/detach trailer • Conduct pre-trip inspection checklist on equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, and all fluid levels and record in the provided daily vehicle report book • Safely operate truck and trailer while transporting guardrail materials and equipment to/from construction site • Ensure vehicles are kept clean, treated with respect and are a good reflection of the Company • Assist guardrail installation crew on construction site as directed by on site Supervisor, including moving and relocating truck trailer and equipment, handling materials, and performing general duties associated with the project. Experience/Qualifications: • Minimum of 3- 5 years proven experience in a highway construction or similar role • Self-starter with sound judgment, positive attitude, takes initiative, and adapts to changing work environment • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, USDOT Federal Regulations and Compliance Guidelines • CDL A License Compensation: • Competitive base wage, with night work bonuses when applicable • Prevailing wage on many jobs can increase take-home pay • Paid time off • Paid medical and dental benefits for employees • 401(k) with employer match
