This is a hands-on workshop to learn all about propagating plants. We will be working with cuttings of different berries during the class.
In this workshop we will be taking a look at various ways to propagate plants and then getting some practice working with cuttings. We will discuss three types of layering, divisions, water rooting, and using cuttings. (This class will not focus on using seeds.) The spring sessions will focus primarily on the 101 berries in the Shark Garden collection and we will work with elderberries and currants during the workshop. You will be able to take one home after practicing your new skills! We will discuss the tools, set ups, and materials that you will need and how to get started, even on a budget.
The class will be taught by the Shark Garden’s very own Taryn Koerker. She has over 30 years of experience with organic gardening and propagating plants. A former landscape designer and nursery owner specializing in organic methods, habitat gardens, and food plants, her passion is for edible landscaping, sustainable design, and urban agriculture. As Co-founder of the Shark Garden, she brings that knowledge to the community through our botanical collections, tours, and classes.
Space is limited, but we may add an afternoon session if demand is high.
