Description

Young Writers Workshop - Led by author/illustrator Steve Harpster! Steve Harpster, comic book author and children's educational presenter, is back again to help children develop their own published book. Each child will receive a professionally bound book with a duplicate copy added to the Library collection. Grades K thru 5: Morning Program - 9:30am to 11:30am. One adult/parent must remain for the entire program. Due to limited space, no more than one person may accompany the student. Grades 5 thru 8: Afternoon Program - 1:30pm to 4:00pm. Parents are welcome and encouraged to remain for the program. Registration includes all supplies. Students are permitted to bring their own writing supplies. However, no paint, glitter or puff paint markers or permanent markers. These products interfere with the printing and book binding process. Bound books will be available for pick up on April 30th between 11:00am and 1:00pm at Delaware Main Library, 84 East Winter Street. Receive books through the U.S. Postal Service for a $5 fee payable the day of the event. Additional copies of your child's book make an excellent gift and can be ordered the day of the event for $7 each! Select titles of Steve Harpster's books will also be available for purchase. No outside food or drink permitted at the event. Spills can be heartbreaking for young writers. Bottled water with straws for drinking will be provided. We will observe Delaware Country District Library COVID guidelines. Presented by Friends of the Delaware County District Library Students may leave the meeting room to write in a quiet place or finish at home as long as the completed work is turned in by 5:00pm on Monday, March 21st. After the event, drop books off at the Delaware Main Library front desk. A kit with plenty of supplies will be made available. Scholarships are available by emailing [email protected]. Call Penny Mong at (614) 648-7642 with any questions.
