Join us to help the International Garden of Many Colors. We're doing a major garden clean up and would love your help. Join us for a day full of cultivating joy, food, and inspiration. We'll be doing a major cleanup. We would love to have your help lending a hand to the elders that tend this garden. You can learn more about this garden here. This will be the first of bi-monthly clean up days that we will be hosting at this garden and your help will be greatly appreciated on an on-going basis. DPHGA is a partnership formed among local residents who are interested in building and promoting home and community gardens. In 2013 the DPHGA was established to advance equity and justice in disadvantaged communities. This group began a larger effort that would provide a means for collective impact on a larger scale: urban farming, forestry, and aquaponics farms throughout the city. The DPHGA started a massive seeding activity in February 2014. To date, the group has seeded and sprouted over 5,000 seedlings including fruits, vegetables, flowers, and culinary herbs. Through this common seeding activity the vision is to share these seedlings amongst the DPHGA, plant in the Root Cellar Community Garden and our five other sites, and share seedlings with residents interested in gardening in the community at large. We have organized over 100 events and planted over 1,000 trees in parks, and offer a variety of classes, workshops, and community building opportunities to the community to promote urban greening and climate equity. We look forward to providing educational workshops and opportunities to cultivate joy, food, and inspiration for the generations.
