Description
YWCA 1st Annual Swim Against Racism (1 mile, 1/2 mile, 500 yard) Event! Join the YWCA of Lower Cape Fear on Sunday, April 24th from 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. for the 1st Annual SWIM Against Racism. This event is in conjunction with YWCA's signature campaign, STAND AGAINST RACISM, which raises awareness of the impact of institutional and structural racism and builds community among those who work for racial justice and the STAND AGAINST RACISM CHALLENGE (previously the 21 Day Racial Equity & Social Justice Challenge), which provides folks the opportunity to dedicate 21 days to the pursuit of racial justice starting on April 4. The YWCA Aquatics Program is proud to host a 1 mile, ½ mile and 500 yard distance swim meet challenging swimmers to their personal best time or to simply set the goal to complete one of these distances. Additional events offered include 1 mile pool walk and a 30 minute participation tread. Due to limited lanes, time and the unique distances offered, a maximum of 50 spaces are available - so register early! Questions? Want to get involved? Contact Aileen, [email protected]. This is not considered a competition pool temperature. If you are unaccustomed to the YWCA facility, you should adjust your seed time accordingly. Seed Time Participants will provide a seed time at the time of event registration. This should be a swimmers best guess at an anticipated finish time for their selected distance. If you are unsure, email us and we can work out a best guess together! Heat Assignment Heats will be assigned based on seed time and event/distance. Faster times will go earlier in the morning. While this is opposite of a typical swim meet, this should help us stay on time for most of the day. The 1 mile will swim first, then the ½ mile, then the 500. Arrival Time Swimmers should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their heat time and check in at swimmer registration in the pool lobby. Warmup The deep end and shallow end will be available for warm up. Cut off time Swimmers need to complete their distance within the heat time provided. Failure to complete the event within the provided heat time will result in a DNF as the official posted time. Please keep this in mind when providing your seed time. REFUNDS/TRANSFERS/DERRERALSNote: Due to limited lanes, time and the unique distances offered, a maximum of 50 spaces are available. For every person that cancels their registration at the last minute, that is space that we otherwise are unable to fill, and limits our ability to raise funds for our charitable cause. Please consider this as you sign up for and prepare for this event. Refunds Deadline to withdraw from the event is Friday, April 15, 2022 Refund requests must be made in writing to [email protected] Refund total will be less any transaction or processing fee from Eventbrite. The YWCA Lower Cape Fear is not responsible for processing fees paid by participants. No refunds will be issued for requests made after this date. No refunds will be issued for participants who do not attend the event or fail to arrive to the event at their scheduled time. SICK? EXPOSED TO COVID-19? Please email [email protected] to inquire about the refund policy as it pertains to COVID-19. As CDC guidelines are changing and take into account many factors, our refund policy may be more flexible in your situation. Transfers Deadline to transfer to another distance is Friday, April 15, 2022. Contact the YWCA at [email protected] regarding transfers. Deferrals Contact the YWCA at [email protected] regarding deferral requests. Chargebacks The YWCA reserves the right to refuse entry to future program participation to participants who issue credit card chargebacks on tickets/entry fees in violation of our clearly stated refund policy.
