Located in the mouth of the Braden River, Pine Island Preserve is an 89 acre refuge for wildlife, including towering longleaf pine trees and nesting American Bald Eagles. Join us for a volunteer event to help pick up marine debris, remove exotic plants, and clear trails at one of Manatee County's hidden gems. This will be a wet and muddy workday!
Program suitable for ages 16 and older who can meet the County's minimum eligibility requirements.
This is an intermediate paddle not suitable for beginning kayakers.
Ten single-person sit-on-top kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are available to borrow on a first-come-first-served basis - please choose the "borrow a kayak" ticket. Otherwise, participants must have their own canoe or kayak and safety gear, including a life jacket and whistle.
All participants must wear a life jacket while on the water.
Participants should bring a water bottle, small lunch or snack, and wear clothing appropriate for the weather. We reccomend sun protection, bug spray, and closed-toe shoes that strap or tie to your feet, no flip-flops.
Trashbags, gloves, and loppers will be provided.
