NEW YORK CITY — New York City skyscrapers keep chucking ice at hapless pedestrians, viral video shows. The popular Twitter account @WhatIsNewYork posted videos showing ice fall like ticker tape from New York City skyscrapers last week. The dramatic and dangerous occurrence sent shaken New York City scrambling for safety. Or not— at least one man was not stirred as ice crashed behind him. "That other guy doesn't even flinch and that my friends is what ny is," tweeted @reginity. More falling ice from Friday 😱 #whatisnewyork pic.twitter.com/PcRuFasr9R— WhatIsNewYork (@whatisny) February 28, 2022 pic.twitter.com/d9z4OUK14l— WhatIsNewYork (@whatisny) February 25, 2022 The skyscraper ice falls Feb. 25 aren't unheard of in the city. Last year, a Staten Island man sued the owners of Freedom Tower after he said a chunk of "ice/snow" slipped off the 1,776-foot-tall building and hit him. And the ice falls last week injured at least two people — a 35-year-old woman, and a girl, 17 — near Billionaire's Row in Midtown, the New York Daily News reported. The owners of one building — 111 W. 57th St. — received a violation from the city's Department of Buildings for ice falling off the structure, records show. So, beware, New Yorkers — a chunk of frozen stuff can ruin a cold winter day faster than you can say "Ice Ice Baby."
