By volunteering as a Mentor at Unlocking Futures, you have the power to help open the door of possibilities at a critical point in young people’s lives.
At Unlocking Futures, our goal is to aid in breaking generational cycles of poverty and ensure the educational success of all students. Due to the impact of COVID-19 on students, it is especially important this year to provide additional resources and mentorship to students in under-resourced school systems.
Since March 2020, we have transitioned our tutoring and mentoring programs to be a hybrid of both virtual and in-person elements.
As a mentor, you will be working with high school students and young adults 18-24 located in New York City and the surrounding areas. We ask our volunteers to provide a nurturing context in which the students are better able to successfully complete high school.
Volunteer mentors will have weekly support calls with their mentees (one-to-one or small group) and attend the biweekly program workshops.
