Candidates For Shorewood Police Chief Narrowed To Four

SHOREWOOD, WI — The field of candidates for the Village of Shorewood police chief role has been narrowed to four. The former chief of police, Peter Nimmer, left in 2021 to become the Village of Brown Deer's chief of police. Thomas Liebenthal, the highest-ranking member of the department at the time of Nimmer's leave, was selected as interim chief. After months of searching for new people for the role, four candidates have been found and announced: Kevin Carini, Tom Liebenthal, Rolando Ramos and Heather Wurth. The Village will host a virtual Police Chief Candidate forum on Monday where the recruiter, The Riseling Group, will ask questions and then open the floor to the public for further questions. The Shorewood Police Commission will then interview all four candidates during closed session at a meeting on Tuesday, according to the latest Village Manager's memo. Background checks and deliberation of the candidates will take place in the coming weeks. The Police Commission will then appoint the new chief, while the Village Board may determine salary and conditions of employment. Click here to view the details for Monday's candidate forum.
