Quincy Man Charged With Murder Of Weymouth High School Student

QUINCY, MA — Quincy police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection to the murder of 17-year-old Nathan Paul, who was a senior at Weymouth High School. Jaivon Harris, 18, of Quincy, is expected to be arraigned in the Quincy District Court Monday afternoon on murder charges, Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said. Harris is also facing charges of armed robbery, assault, and battery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy, Morrissey added. "Quincy Police and Massachusetts State Police homicide detectives assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney's Office have had this matter under intense investigation during the almost two weeks since the shooting," Morrissey said. "Police had obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Harris out of the Quincy District Court. The Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section has been assisting in our efforts to locate him," Morrissey added. "It is not known if he learned of the search causing him to present himself to the Quincy District Court today." On Feb. 15, police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Palmer Road in Quincy, to find 17-year-old Paul who appeared to have been shot inside a car while driving and drove off before crashing a little further up the road, police said. Paul was taken to Boston Medical Center where he later died, officials said. An investigation ensued and two weeks later, Harris was placed under arrest in connection to the shooting. As of noon, Harris was at the Quincy Police Department Headquarters being processed in for the afternoon arraignment. District Attorney Morrissey said the matter remains under investigation.
