MERRICK, NY — A fuel tanker was involved in a crash on Monday morning. Police say the truck slammed into a Kitchen Legacy shop and telephone pole just after 5 a.m. at Lansdowne Avenue near Sunrise Highway. A portion of Sunrise Highway was closed due to downed wires and spilled fuel in the area. Police had no information on any injuries from the collision. Minimal power outages from the crash were rectified, according to PSEG Long Island. This is the second oil tanker crash in two weeks. A truck overturned and exploded in Rockville Centre on Feb. 16 causing extensive damage to one building and multiple fires. No one was seriously hurt.
