Pontiac metro area beekeeping training! All are welcome to this year-round, rain-or-shine course introducing basic apiarist skills. All are welcome to our first ever collaborative community beekeeping club! Join us for a year-round, rain or shine Saturday class series to become more familiar with why bees are so essential, their incredible lives and how we as humans can partner with them ethically to share honey and pollination! Taught by local beekeeper Jason Reed in collaboration with non-profit Growing Pontiac, this is a course for complete beginners and more experienced students alike. Donations are encouraged and equipment will be available for loan as the season warms up. Join us for smoking, hive transfers, honey harvesting, hive health checks, frame building and more. Class #5: Hive Build Workshop: Join us as we build our hive supers and frames in a woodshop in Pontiac! If you are a club member, feel free to bring your hive frame and super supplies as we assemble together.
