RENTON, WA —The body of a missing 77-year-old Renton man was found over the weekend, though authorities said there were no signs of foul play, according to the Renton Police Department.
Jerry Rye's body was discovered Saturday evening after Renton Police received a call at 5:30 p.m. about a body located behind a building in the 4900 block of Shattuck Pl. S. in Renton.
Renton police said detectives determined there were no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances in Rye's death and the King County Medical Examiner confirmed there had been no obvious signs of trauma.
Rye was reported missing by his family on Feb. 12, after last being seen on Feb. 9 at his apartment complex in the 300 block of Wells Ave. S. Rye had taken his wallet, keys and phone, according to his family, but not responded to repeated phone calls.
The family said Rye may have been suffering from memory loss issues and experiencing some health-related complications that put him at high risk without medical attention.
"Renton Police Department expresses its deepest condolences to the family for the loss of their loved one and (we) want to thank our community for their efforts in assisting the family and our department in trying to locate Jerry," Renton police said in a statement.
