FRAMINGHAM, MA — The site of a brew pub that closed during the pandemic may soon be the home of Framingham's newest supermarket. Boston-based BazaAr Supermarkets purchased the 345 Cochituate Road — also known as 345 Caldor Road — site in September for $3.5 million, according to property records. The company wants to add two new buildings onto the existing former restaurant, making way for BazaAr to move its 855 Worcester Road store to the new location. The new buildings would add about 10,000 square feet of space to the existing 9,000 square-foot former pub, according to plans. The Framingham BeerWorks pub first opened in 2013. It closed down in March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic, but the owners announced a permanent closure a few months later in July. BazaAr also has markets in Allston, Brookline and Newton. The stores sell a variety of European foods, plus produce, alcohol and specialties like caviar. The new Framingham market project is unrelated to one ongoing at Shoppers World. A representative for BazaAr Supermarkets will go before the Conservation Commission on March 16 for a discussion, according to the agenda. The project needs Conservation Commission approval because the property abuts wetlands.
