Description

HERNDON, VA — It's been more than 15 years since the Herndon mayor or members of the Town Council have received a pay raise, but that may soon change if the council approves a resolution currently under consideration. During a work session on Tuesday, the council will discuss whether to increase the compensation they receive so that it is more in line with surrounding jurisdictions. Currently, the town's annual expense for the mayor and council members' pay is $26,000, with the mayor receiving $6,000 and council members $4,000 each. That figure is based on the average compensation received by similar positions in six surrounding jurisdictions. If these new pay levels are approved, the annual expense for the town would increase by $16,000 for a total of $42,000.
