Westlake Mayor Tips Cap To Baseball's Opening Day

WESTLAKE, OH — Mayor Dennis Clough joined an initiative to honor MLB Opening Day and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Negro Leagues. Mayors around the nation were invited to share pictures or videos of themselves tipping their caps in honor of the baseball holiday. Clough shared a photo of himself tipping his cap to the Negro Leagues. Clough's photo shows him tipping a Cleveland Indians hat while holding a baseball. The cap tipping program included appearances and celebrations from former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. Celebrities like Conan O'Brien, Ken Burns, Michael Jordan and Billie Jean King also shared photos of themselves tipping their cap. The full list of participating politicians and celebrities can be found on the program's website. Baseball will begin an abbreviated season on Thursday. The Cleveland Indians will start their campaign in a game against the Kansas City Royals at 7:10 p.m. on July 24.
