ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MD — Daytime and nighttime testing at Aberdeen Proving Ground this week may be noticeable to the surrounding community, according to officials. Specifically, people may hear noise off the installation, military authorities said. "These operations are not hazardous to residents in our surrounding communities and are integral to ensuring continued readiness of service members," officials at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) said in a statement Monday morning. At the base in Harford County, research engineers, scientists, technicians and administrators develop military weapons, electronics and equipment. Each day, APG officials said they monitor the weather and noise readings to gauge training exercises accordingly. Last week, when APG posted on Facebook that noise may be possible from its testing on Friday, one Aberdeen resident wrote: "Living here all my life that was not normal testing. I have seen all kinds of things on and off base, that was just weird." Anyone concerned about Aberdeen Proving Ground tests may call the installation at 443-655-5108.
