Westlake Food Pantry Friday Curbside Pickup Program Begins May 15

WESTLAKE, OH – Westlake residents have been supporting local businesses during the new coronavirus outbreak and shutdown by taking advantage of curbside pickup, and now the Westlake Food Pantry is using curbside pickup to support residents in need. The Friday Curbside Pickup program will offer residents who are experiencing financial challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic a safe and discreet way to utilize the city's food pantry. The program also welcomes friends and family members of residents who are experiencing food insecurity but who are unable to pick up the food themselves to register for the program. On Thursday, the Community West Foundation Westlake has donated $1,000 to support the Senior and Community Department's new Friday Curbside Pickup program. The Community Services Department plans to continue operating the Friday Curbside Pickup program for as long as there is a demand. Residents can register through the city's website and can use a "privacy option" if they prefer not to share their name and contact information. Participants can register for specific time slots every Friday when they can drive up and select from a variety of donated perishable and non-perishable food items. Participants must follow CDC social distancing guidelines and must wear a mask when picking up food. Gloves will be provided. Those who are picking up food may only bring one other person with them.
