Here are the top three stories today in Des Moines: Prom is only a few months away, and a woman tried to ensure that every teen in the Des Moines area could shine on their special day. Sam Swanberg hosted a pop-up prom event on Saturday, in which she gave away more than a hundred prom dresses. She hopes to host another pop-up prom giveaway event later this year. (WHO13 Des Moines) MidAmerican Energy crews spent Saturday morning working on downed powerlines after a car ran into a pole. The incident took place just after 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Ingersoll Avenue and 31st Street. One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but he is expected to survive; the crash is under investigation. (KCCI Des Moines) Des Moines police say they found a 35-year old woman dead just before 2 a.m. in her apartment on Southwest 23rd Street near Bell Avenue. Police have arrested 33-year-old Clarence Reed of Des Moines. Reed and the victim were reportedly in a relationship and lived together in an apartment just west of Fleur Drive; Reed stayed at the apartment until officers got there.
