JOLIET, IL — A Will County judge has set bail at $15,000 for a 26-year-old Crest Hill man accused of breaking into the Self Storage World property at 2112 West Jefferson Street in Joliet over the weekend.
Joliet police booked Bryon Steadman into the Will County Jail around 4 a.m. Sunday on charges of attempted burglary and criminal damage to property. Joliet police went to the Self Storage World around 1 a.m. after getting a burglary report.
"Officers located Steadman on the scene and determined that he had attempted to pry open a storage unit using a broom and a machete, causing significant damage to the door," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English announced. "It was learned that Steadman was homeless and had been living in a storage unit. Steadman was placed into custody without incident."
