STREAMWOOD, IL – A 46-year-old Streamwood man was shot to death near the entry of Bartlett Park Sunday night in an incident police said Monday involved a traffic dispute. The Cook County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Scott Mattison and said he died just before 5:30 p.m. Streamwood Police said Monday that Mattison was driving a blue Ford truck when he became engaged with the driver of a white Ford sedan in a traffic dispute, police said. Lifesaving efforts were performed on Mattison, and he was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased, according to a news release. The driver of the white Ford is in custody pending further investigation, but has not yet been charged. Streamwood Police detectives have determined this to be an isolated incident with no further threat to the public. Police declined more specifics of the nature of the traffic dispute on Monday, citing an active, ongoing investigation. A spokeswoman said that that Mattison's cause of death was multiple gun shot wounds and that his death is considered a homicide.
