Description
Press release from the City of Shakopee:
April 21, 2020
Residents are invited to drop off homemade face masks at both Shakopee Fire Stations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25 as part of the Governor's statewide Homemade Mask Drive. A collection bin will be placed outside the front doors of both stations, located at 2700 Vierling Drive E. and 1001 Vierling Drive W.
Fire stations will then deliver the masks to local congregate living facilities for their employees and residents to wear. All 775 fire departments in the state will participate.
While they don't replace medical-grade personal protective equipment, cloth masks help keep the wearer's germs from getting on other people, which is key to stopping the spread of COVID-19.
