DUBLIN, CA — As thousands of people prepare to descend on Dublin's St. Patrick's Day celebration from March 11-13, the city has released a list of its "slainte chugat," a rough Gaelic translation of "health and safety measures." The California Department of Public Health classifies St. Patrick's Day as an "outdoor mega-event," which consists of 5,000 or more people. The CDPH recommends that all attendees are either fully vaccinated or receive a negative COVID-19 test, with an antigen test conducted one day prior, and a PCR test conducted two days prior. There will not be any verification of vaccine or COVID status, city spokesperson Shari Jackman confirmed to Patch. While most of the event is outdoors, masks must still be worn indoors and on the Festival Shuttle and inside the Dublin Library. Masks will be made available, and hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the festival grounds. High-touch areas will be sanitized regularly. Dublin's famed St. Patrick's Day celebration features three stages of Irish music and dancing, over 250 festival booths, carnival rides, Irish food and drink, and a parade. The Shamrock 5K Fun Run and Walk is a 3.1-mile run/walk that typically draws about 2,000 participants.The event will also feature a Firefighters Pancake Breakfast featuring green pancakes, a Shamrock Gala, and a full schedule of Irish-themed entertainment.
