State Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, and state Sen. Ann Gillespie, D-Arlington Heights, will host a blood drive with Versiti Blood Center of Illinois on Tuesday, March 8 from 1 to 6 p.m. at Heritage Park, located at 506 W. Victoria Ln. in Arlington Heights.
"Every donation helps up to three lives, and our health care system really needs it," Walker said. "Particularly during this pandemic, we would greatly appreciate anyone who takes the time to help out and donate."
Appointments are preferred, but not required. To view available time slots and reserve, please visit https://donate.illinois.versiti.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/5600068. Residents can also call Versiti at 1-800-786-4483 to schedule.
Those who intend to donate are encouraged to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water before donating. Masks are mandatory, and participants are asked to bring photo identification.
While walk-in donations will be accepted, residents should anticipate a greater wait time.
