Job Summary Performs housekeeping and janitorial duties to maintain assigned offices, restrooms, public areas and/or residence locations. Assist with general labor and minor repair tasks for University buildings and facilities. Responsibilities Cleans assigned buildings including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, collecting trash and wiping waste and recycling receptaclesCompletes work order requests timely during emergenciesReports building discrepancies and damages in timely mannerUses required safety and protective equipmentCleans and sanitizes restrooms, showers, and locker rooms and replenishes paper towels and soap dispensersCollects, launders and dries mop heads and cleaning ragsWaxes and refinishes floors, and shampoos carpets as assignedMaintains clean and operating equipmentInspects equipment and recommends the need for new parts, repairs, overhaul or replacementRestocks supply closets and replenishes paper supplies in restrooms, etc. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates commercial cleaning equipment to sweep, scrub, wax, strip and refinish/polish floors, and moves furniture before and after cleaningOperates commercial carpet cleaning equipment to extract and wet/dry vac carpet as needed Installs, operates and maintains custodial and cleaning equipment   Required Qualifications Educational Requirements None Required Experience On the job training provided Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience Previous experience with floor maintenance and cleaning Customer service experience Cleaning experience DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Mechanical and technical knowledge as it relates to the positionKnowledge of proper and safe use of all custodial equipment and chemicalsKnowledge of extraction, stripping, and refinishing floors Equal Employment Opportunity Kennesaw State University is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
