Description
WESTLAKE, OH — Two more cars were stolen from Westlake driveways last week, police warned.
After three cars were taken from Westlake homes during the last week of August, police issued a plea to residents. Lock your cars and take any valuables out of your vehicle and into your home, police said. If you can't take valuables into the house, put them in the trunk of the car, police instructed residents.
Despite the warnings, two more cars were taken on Sept. 7. Both cars were left unlocked overnight and the keys to the vehicles were inside the cars. One car was taken from a house on Winderness Trail and the other was taken from a home on Annie Lane.
The car thieves have been targeted unlocked cars, police said.
Thieves have also been rummaging through unlocked cars, taking purses and loose change. Since Aug. 29, police have dealt with at least 10 reported thefts from cars. Most of the thefts occurred overnight on Westhill, Belmont, East Melrose, Framingham and Berringer Run.
