WESTLAKE, OH — Four cars were stolen during a break-in at a BMW car dealership in Westlake last week.
At 12:35 a.m. on Oct. 26, an alarm was triggered at the BMW dealership on Sperry Drive. When police arrived, they found a group of people had thrown a brick through a window at the dealership, found keys for cars on the lot and then stole four vehicles.
Surveillance footage showed six people participating in the break-in, police said.
While investigators searched the dealership, the stolen cars were tracked to Cleveland. Westlake and Cleveland detectives found two of the stolen BMWs near E. 32nd Street. The other two stolen BMWs were found near E. 72nd Street.
Officers also found a stolen Audi, which had been taken from a home in Middleburg Heights.
Three people were found inside the stolen cars, police said. One of the suspects had a handgun, a department spokesperson said.
Six suspects have been identified and taken into custody, police said. Four of the suspects are juveniles and two have been accepted by the Juvenile Detention Center on charges carrying a concealed handgun and receiving stolen property. The other two juveniles have been turned over to their parents.
Two adults, one from Cleveland and one from Garfield Heights, have been accused of receiving stolen property. They were taken to Cuyahoga County Jail by Westlake police.
Additional charges for all six suspects will be decided by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury.
