Birmingham Man Indicted On Drug Charge

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Birmingham man was indicted by a federal grand jury last week on a drug trafficking charge, which adds to the man's criminal history. Terry Roshaun Pruitt, 36, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine base. According to the indictment, in September 2021, Pruitt possessed 280 grams or more of a mixture containing a detectable amount of cocaine base, more commonly referred to as "crack cocaine" in Jefferson County. Pruitt has one serious drug felony conviction and one serious violent felony conviction, which increases his sentence to 25 years to life in prison. In March 2009, Pruitt was convicted in the U.S. District Court Northern District of Alabama of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing cocaine base and possession of a firearm in the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The DEA investigated the case, along with the Birmingham Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Baty is prosecuting the case.
