WESTLAKE, OH — Shoplifters stole $300 worth of groceries from an Aldi's in Westlake.
But the stolen food will now help vulnerable families in Westlake.
On Nov. 18, police were called to the Aldi's on Detroit. Staff said two men had walked out with a grocery cart full of groceries, without paying, and then left in a car. The described vehicle was spotted on I-90, near the Rocky River line, and police stopped the vehicle.
The two men inside the car were taken into custody on charges of receiving stolen property. One of the men also had warrants for felony offenses.
Aldi's could not accept the groceries back, but the store did donate the $300 worth of food to the Westlake Community Services Food Pantry for distribution.
