WESTLAKE, OH — Police found guns, suspected marijuana, a scale and cash during a traffic stop in Westlake. At 1 a.m. on Friday, officers stopped a car in the parking lot of the Double Tree Hotel because of a license plate problem. There were four people inside the car, including a 2-year-old child. The child was not properly restrained, police said, and a 27-year-old in the backseat had a handgun poking out of his pocket. Officers learned the man had a prior felony conviction and was barred from owning a handgun. Police then searched the car and found another gun, this one fully loaded, under the front seat of the car. The driver, a 29-year-old Lorain resident, said the second gun was his. Both the 29-year-old and the 27-year-old were taken into custody for felony weapons violations. Officers then found suspected marijuana, cash and a scale in the car. The 2-year-old and his mother, who was the fourth person inside the car, were allowed to go to the hotel where they were staying. The two men were taken to Westlake Jail.
