Akbash Livestock Guardian Dog

Description

Just relocated from Texas a couple months ago and the set up is not working out for our girl, Reeva. She is a fully intact Akbash (livestock guardian dog). She just turned 1 year this month and she is very good with other animals and children. She loves doggy daycare and being social. We've had her since she was 9 weeks old, so this has been a difficult decision. Unfortunately, due to our kid’s allergies and the set up of our new home, she has to be isolated away from us pretty much most of the time while indoors. She does shed a lot and we can’t have that out around the house. She is also used to about an acre of outdoor space with chickens and cats and goats, and our new dirt, square backyard environment just doesn’t seem like enough. She’s loves both indoors (if she can be around the family) or outdoors (if she has playmates). Other than that, she’s absolutely amazing, but for our circumstances, we are no longer the best option for her. She is house trained and only requires going out once a day, twice at most. She is pretty relaxed and lounges around, but still has puppy energy when prompted to play. She does very well with a consistent routine and can walk off leash once her routines and routes are established. She is non-aggressive, but will bark to alert and ward off anything or anyone that is unknown. She does not do too well with car rides, they make her nervous, but gets used to them if they are frequent. She is up to date on all vaccines, and I can provide all those records although she does not have a vet here in Arizona yet. I am willing to answer any questions. If it’s a good fit upon meet and greet, I will not charge a rehoming fee.
