Carve your very own design into a piece of pottery. No experience needed. Wheel thrown pottery provided. Learn the art of Mishima! Join us for this fun and interactive carving class. You will choose your piece of hand thrown pottery (when you arrive - come early) that has been encased in wax. You can free hand carve, follow a stencil or just do your own thing! What is the Mishima technique?Mishima is a technique of inlaying slip, underglaze, or even clay into a contrasting clay body, the main clay body of the pottery piece. This technique allows for extremely fine, intricate design work with hard, sharp edges that can be difficult to reliably replicate in any other way.Pottery will be fired after completely dry and you will receive a phone call to come back and glaze your bisque piece. We will fire again and call you for pick up. Estimated time for completion is 4 weeks.Outside food & beverage welcome!
