Description

An evening of worship, teaching, and community, designed to reconnect our faith with our everyday work. Imagine waking up every morning and experiencing your 9 - 5 work as an offering of worship to the Creator. Come and be refreshed, returning to the workplace with renewed vision and purpose.Enjoy community, learning with and worshiping alongside Christians from churches and denominations across Charlotte.Invite a weary co-worker, your small group, or a neighbor.Dessert and coffee to follow the event. Whether you spend your days running a corporation, serving coffee, or serving as room parent in your child's school, God cares about the work that you do every day. Too often, we have a limited view of what God designed work to be and how it can be used to care for his creation. Most Christians don't see a direct connection between what they hear during Sunday sermons and what they experience during Monday meetings. But what if our weekdays were infused with the gospel? What if we could experience God's fullness in new and transformative ways by experiencing our work as a form of worship? No matter your line of work, this evening will help you reframe your thinking about how you bring about His Kingdom into your everyday life. God cares about the work that we do and uses it to care for His creation. Our guest Speaker, Dr. Matthew Kaemingk, is the Executive Director of the Mouw Institute of Faith and Public Life at Fuller Theological Seminary. Matthew also serves as a fellow at the Center for Public Justice and a scholar-in-residence at the De Pree Center for Christian Leadership. Matthew’s research and public speaking focuses on a variety of issues related to faith and public life. These include: religious pluralism and political ethics, Muslim-Christian relations, marketplace ethics, and Reformed public theology. He is the author of Work & Worship, Christian Hospitality and Muslim Immigration in an Age of Fear, and Reformed Public Theology. Image used with permission from painter, local artist Bryn Gillette. Bryn is a painter and art teacher at Charlotte Christian School. He is defined by his identity as an ambassador of Jesus Christ, a husband, and a father. "Painting is where my eye, my hand, and my heart all intersect." Bryn will be live painting during the event. *All ticket proceeds will be directly applied to the 412 Fellowship scholarship fund. We don’t want anyone to miss the event due to financial burden. You can email [email protected] to receive a fee-waiver code.
