Description

Our basic self defense workshop is ideal for all, it will focus on basic responses to high-stress defense scenarios that anyone can use. Our Self-Defense Sunday Workshops are a basic introduction to hand-to-hand defenses and non-lethal weapons. In our interactive 90-minute workshop, we will go over basic strikes and combinations along with non-lethal weapons like stun guns, pepper spray, and pressure point tools. If you've always wanted to take a self-defense class but haven't, this is the opportunity you have been looking for. For the comfort of our attendees, this is a women-only class and we always have a rape crisis advocate on site should anything we be triggering. Be a part of this important and informative class. Register today! Your donations help us keep our Sunday self-defense workshops for the girls and women of our community free of charge. From all us at Out of Harm’s Way, thank you for your continued support. FAQs What kind of COVID precautions are you taking? Masks are required indoors regardless of vaccination status. All items used are disinfected before and after class. Anti-bacterial wipes and gel will be available for everyone. Your attendance is your attestation that you are not experiencing any symptoms of illness such as a new cough, a temperature, loss of smell or taste, or any other symptoms associated with COVID 19. You're also attesting that you have not been near anyone who tested positive for COVID 19 within 10 days of attending class. We ask that if you feel ill the day of class, that you please reschedule your class to the following month. We are happy to credit any ticket that has to be changed or cancelled due to COVID 19 issues. What is Embodied Paths? Who am I donating to? We are a collaboration of women with backgrounds in self-defense and advocacy. Our goal is to centralize resources and bring personal safety education to our communities. Your donation helps support the effort to raise awareness about violence against women and to offer solutions for a safer community. Is there a minimum age requirement for the class? Yes. We HIGHLY suggest participants be at least 15 years old due to the adult nature of the subject matter. There is always a rape crisis counselor on site for support and assistance with resources. What should I bring to the class? Dress comfortably, you will be moving around. Shoes are not permitted on the carpet but feel free to use socks if you aren't comfortable barefoot. Storage area is limited, so please plan to travel light. We respectfully ask that you remove your jewelry and watches as well, for your safety and that of your partners. Contact us at [email protected] With a new look and a new name, I am looking to combine the paths of Women's Self Defense, Yoga, and Massage. Focusing on these three different ways to embody who you are and how you live and feel in your body. One piece of this is to focus on tackling the epidemic of violence against women and girls. Our mission is to give our communities tools to help prevent attacks and to recover from them. We are a collaboration of Black Belts and victim advocates who have created a unique learning experience. The second piece of Embodied Paths is Trauma-Informed Yoga. Yoga is not just a workout practice. Yoga is a path to get back into your body and heal from trauma. In my yoga classes I try to create a space for you to be you, just as you are right now. The final path is Massage Therapy. True embodied practices include taking care of yourself and I am please to offer both 60-minute and 90-minute massage. All of my offerings are offered on a sliding scale. My intent is that you will find pricing that fits your needs. Please reach out to me if you have any questions. You can find more information about my offerings at my website: www.embodiedpaths.com
