BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge saw a small increase in coronavirus cases over the last week. As of Sunday, the caseload was 284, up 10 from the previous week, according to health authorities from DuPage and Cook counties. That represents a 4 percent increase. As of Sunday, Burr Ridge had 26.4 coronavirus cases per thousand peoples. The figure compares to 14.7 in La Grange Park, 15 in Darien, 18.2 in Western Springs, 19.7 in Clarendon Hills and DuPage County, 20.4 in Elmhurst, 22.6 in Hinsdale, 24.9 in suburban Cook County and 25.5 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands). Burr Ridge's pandemic-related deaths numbered 23 as of Sunday, government figures show. That number has remained unchanged in recent weeks. In his weekly coronavirus statement Friday, Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso said he was working with staff to gather information on health safety investments that could be made at retail and restaurant businesses in the village. "It is my goal to be able to assure our residents and patrons of our retail businesses and restaurants that they can be confident of shopping and dining in Burr Ridge as we enter the colder months," he said. Grasso said the Village Board would hear recommendations on the issue at its Oct. 12 meeting. Nationally, 7.1 million people have caught the virus, up 5 percent from the week before. A total of 204,033 people have died from the virus in the United States.
