By Elizabeth Ireland, Times of San Diego February 27, 2022 The number of San Diego County patients hospitalized with COVID-19 continued to fall, decreasing to 450 from 493 Saturday — according to the latest state data out Sunday. The number of those patients in intensive care increased by three to 86. Available ICU beds increased by 16 to 202. San Diego County's Health and Human Services Agency reported 862 new COVID-19 infections and 14 additional deaths linked to the virus on Friday. That brought the county's cumulative totals to 736,368 cases and 5,018 deaths. The agency does not report COVID data on weekends. An average of 16,300 COVID-19 tests were recorded each day for the past week. Of those, 5.7% returned positive — down from 6.5% on Tuesday. The county reports new COVID-19 data on Tuesdays and Fridays. City News Service contributed to this article.
