Description

BURR RIDGE, IL — In two instances lately, residents told Burr Ridge police that they saw people targeting their campaign signs. On Oct. 9, a resident in the 800 block of Ambriance Drive said her neighbor came over and took her signs for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden out of the ground, according to a police report. She wanted an officer to tell her neighbors not to come onto her property anymore. The neighbor told the officer that her autistic son likes President Donald Trump and did not like the neighbor's Biden signs, police said. She said she would speak with her son and tell him not to go onto the neighbor's property anymore. The victim said she did not want any action taken against the boy. Two days later, a woman told police that her daughter witnessed two teenage boys take their Biden sign from their front yard in the 15W200 block of 62nd Street and drive away in a gray jeep. The daughter said she did not recognize the boys or the Jeep. An officer checked the area, but could not find them. The mother said she did want any police action taken and just wanted the incident documented. Incidents involving campaign signs happen on both sides of the political spectrum. The bipartisan nature of such crimes was reported in a Patch story in Hinsdale recently.
