Press release from the City of Champaign: February 26, 2022 On February 26, 2022, at approximately 4:54 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 1500 block of West Kirby Avenue for reports of shots fired.  Shortly after, police were notified that a 19-year-old male arrived at a local hospital by personal transport with a life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken into surgery.  The victim remains in serious condition.  This press release was produced by the City of Champaign.
